A Moment of Serenity

My 5 month old son is asleep, it is mid afternoon. A vanilla candle is burning on the table beside me, its sweet aroma fills the room. Celtic relaxation music is playing softly in the background, making the mood perfect for writing. Looking out the window I see blue skies and a red maple tree swaying with the wind. Fall is fast approaching, but for now I will enjoy the last remnants of a beautiful summer. It really has been a wonderful summer, the best in years. The amount of sun shine and good weather has been amazing for our little coastal town, where we are so used to rain and fog on a regular basis. What a beautiful summer we have had. But all things come to an end eventually. Soon we must move into chillier days, with wind and rain, and of course cloudy skies. Soon we will need our coats and boots, our hats and scarves. But for now I will blissfully enjoy these end of summer days, where the sun is bright, the breeze is soft and warm, and the days long and light. Thank you God for today, such a beautiful summer day.
